The New Jersey Department of Education has posted school and district grades as determined by a self-assessment released by the Commissioner last summer. Our school administrators completed the self-assessment primarily based on the documentation of programs and professional development during last school year. The school grade is a raw score of data and the sum of the ratings for all the indicators within each core element on the school self-assessment. The maximum total score for a school is 78 points. It is important to note that the Department of Education issued grade is not represented as a letter grade. In addition the Department is not issuing any associated value or ranking for the raw scores. The raw score reflects the school’s degree of compliance with the Anti Bullying Bill of Rights Act (ABR), as determined primarily through each school’s self-assessment of its implementation of the ABR. This score reflects the HIB grade for last school year.
The audit of the culture of the school report is attached. It was summarized and presented at the December 2016 Board of Education Meeting. Community members, parents, faculty and administrators are encouraged to send any questions to the attorneys that conducted the audit so that they may be answered at the January BOE meeting via email to Marcie Mackolin, Esq., at mmackolin2sciarrillolaw.com, or Monica Palestis, Esq., @ email@example.com.
This fall has proven to be quite busy yet very productive. There are several committees comprised of administrators, faculty, staff and parents that participate in meetings throughout the year. These teams hone in on specific areas important in every school, such as professional development, technology integration, green initiatives, school climate, and leadership. In this small school community, it truly takes a village.

The School Performance Reports Seeks To: Focus attention on metrics that are indicative of college and career readiness. Benchmark a school's performance against other peer schools that are educating similar students, against statewide outcomes, and against state targets to illuminate and build upon a school's strengths and identify areas for improvement. Improve educational outcomes for students by providing both longitudinal and growth data so that progress can be measured as part of an individual school's efforts to engage in continuous improvement.
SGES has a School Safety Team comprised of administrators, teachers, parents and our school counselor. Your child’s safety and well-being are of utmost importance so we practice safety drills each month. Our school participates in fire, severe weather, bus evacuation and emergency response drills throughout the school year to ensure our students and employees know what to do should an emergency situation occur. The SGPD or SGFD are present for most of our drills. The school administration regularly debriefs with them following the drill, then provides feedback to the staff and students. We appreciate the partnership between our school and the borough's safety experts.
Sea Girt Elementary School is proud to be recognized by the Department of Education for achieving superior standards of academic excellence as a Blue Ribbon School District. The National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging content. The National Blue Ribbon School flag gracing an entry or flying overhead is a widely recognized symbol of exemplary teaching and learning.
