•                                    Read-A-Long (part of the literature based activities)

    The children are placed in small groups with a parent.  The children take turns reading to the parent.  When a child completes a book satisfactorily they will be given a sticker to place on their book log sheet.  Read-A-Long is exciting for the children.   They love to read to an adult!  Little ones are welcome to come as well.   I would suggest just bringing a coloring book or something to occupy younger siblings.  Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles are also welcome to come.  Please just remember to sign in at the office before coming to the 1st grade room.  Every Monday before a read a long day I will be sending home a Read-A-Long form to be returned on Tuesday mornings if you are able to come.

    The following categories are considered when grading Literature Based Activities;

    performance of the writing process in the class big books

    other reading/writing activities

    progress and performance on the reading charts

    performance in activities in our thematic units
